There is no excuse for me not knowing this because the guy who decided to make sushi popular and a part of everyday American cuisine, started his business project in Texas. Yet I confess. I did not know. The shock for me was that even though I saw the word in my local grocery store, I never realized the word “sashimi” had any meaning. I thought it was a brand name. Duh! My daughter usually treats me to sushi or I try samples offered at the grocery store.

I go to Japanese restaurants quite often, so I knew the difference. Ehm, yes, shredded daikon is what I call "solid water", really, it has no taste at all. Sushi is for when you're hungry, sashimi is for those who are on a low carb diet. Sushi and sashimi can be packed together, too. The rolls are hoso/ura/futo maki and the cone is temaki, which is fun to eat. I mean, how is it supposed to be eaten?

Oh! They can be packed together? That's probably why both names were on the package. I'm not ashamed. I admit to my ignorance. Thanks for explaining that.

Neither I. We have Japanese restaurants here but I am not a fan of Japanese foods. I prefer Thai and Chinese foods.
