In the past music itself was considered to be satanic. Everything that gave pleasure was satanic, actually.
Maybe it is because of a few lyrics, or the horn sign made with hands, who knows.
There are so many Christian rock and metal songs. It really depends on the lyrics.
Well, most "satanic" songs talk of the devil in a bad way, they still perceive hell as place of damnation.
It isn't much different compared to what you may hear in church.
Then, of course, subliminal messages.

@AmyRo18 Hopefully not, I just threw a few thoughts in a response.
The best answer would come from an elder who thinks rock music is satanic and explains why.

I think some heavy metal bands could be evil.

@AmyRo18 Motley Crue (one of their songs from the 80s was in direct reference to the devil) & I can't help but think Marilyn Manson goes towards the evil side. Even without listening to his music, it is the way he presents himself that makes him look evil.

I mentioned this to someone else in another discussion: preachers have labeled music that they didn't like as "the devil's music" for centuries. The fiddle (the music of country and bluegrass, not the more refined "violin" of classical music) has been called "the devil's box" dating back to colonial times! So rock and roll being called "satanic" is nothing new.

I've heard this before, too. I don't agree with it, though. I think it just depends on the song lyrics.
