What is The Most Important Rule While Touring?

I mean, in your opinion, what is the first rule while traveling in an absolutely different country? I want to visit somebody in U.S.A. and this is my first time to a different country.

Know the rules of the country you are travelling to.. what's legal and illegal in that country .. make sure you have the right visa .. have enough money with you ..
