The Penthouse Sweets Buffet

A new tenant at the mall we manage opened for business last Friday . It was part of her course , Enterprenuership , to see if she can already start a business . She named it Penthouse Sweets Buffet . As the name has it , it’s for a buffet of sweets for 199 pesos or US4.23 . The sweets were delicious ; leche flan , halo-halo , cakes and a lot more . She also has some pastas , but those were ala carte, so another cost . In my opinion , I won’t go to a restaurant like that and have that kind of buffet because having two or more of sweets is too much for me , so I won’t be spending much on that even if I have a pasta to go with it . I must admit , her carbonara served during the opening was very delicious . I would always choose a red sauced pasta over a white sauced pasta , but that carbonara was so delicious , it's an exception . But, would you pay for a sweets buffet ?

My sweet tooth would ache for sure if I go for sweet buffet. I love sweets but it is not healthy to overeat. I am happier to eat just one kind of sweets after meal.

@SIMPLYD Yes a plate of pasta and a slice of leche flan but nothing more than that otherwise I'd feel so guilty.

Knowing you as a health buff , i know you won't go for it . Indeed , it would be too much for some people like us . And if we eat them there has to be something that can contradict the sweetness overload , like a pasta , which is perfect for it .

A pasta with a sweet buffet? This sounds so weird, especially talking of Carbonara that has smoked bacon in the sauce.

Really , you find it weird combination . For us , it is a nice combination . the carbonara modulated the sweets taste .

@LadyDuck But why, my friend . What should be paired with it? I like eating pasta paired with a cake or a bread .

No, I prefer the salty dishes and too much sweet is not good for me. But my favorite cousin from San Fernando would adore that.

I am not into sweets - I like the idea of the buffet. For a thrifty person like me, I will cook my own pasta since I like pasta

When they opened , our boss paid for the buffet of sweets . And we were given the carbonara for free . I only got about 3 of them , the leche flan , halo-halo and cake . After eating the first two , i ate only a small bite of the cake and can;'t take anymore . Gosh , sweets can really be too much for my palate .

@SIMPLYD true there is only so much you can eat of sweet stuff.. unlike savory dishes. I don't see the point of a sweet buffet.. maybe there are other how could stomach more.

See, even you won't pay for a sweets buffet unless there's a special sweet tooth . But can you eat a buffet of sweets and get to eat them all ? Anyway , they are giving you two hours to eat them all. For that opening day the carbonara was for free . But , it is an additional cost aside from the payment for the buffet . No she doesn't accept catering .

It's nakakaumay having just all those sweets . 2 or 3 would make me feel like that and will ask for something salty to counter the sweetness . ha ha ha Wow, is that a hotel there? For a vacation .? Did your two daughters arrive already ?

@SIMPLYD Yes, too much sweets would make you feel like throwing up. No, our daughters will be arriving in October yet. My younger daughter will be getting married. Just came back to the hotel after buying a barong for my daughter's wedding. We're here to stand as wedding sponsors of a goddaughter of my wife. Raddison Blu is a 5-star hotel of Henry Sy that's why it's just across SM City Cebu. The wedding reception will be here in the hotel so that's why we opted to just check-in for 2 nights.

@thelme55 Oh yes , I had two servings of the delicious carbonara in addition to a big glass of halo- halo with lots of fruit fillings , Lethe flan and a small slice of cake . I didn't eat lunch anymore because we finished eating Past 1:00 already . but some of my office mates still ate their meal with rice . THey said they craved for rice meal.

Occasionally but perhaps, like you won't get my moneys worth out of it, I would feel bad after two or three and also feel guilty--but if a few people planned it for fun, I would do it.

So , you have a sweet tooth and would pay for a sweets buffet . Even if it's just those sweets no other food to modulate the sweetness of those ?
