Diary Saturday 20th August 2016 Though normally out socializing on Saturdays today gave me great positive reason to stay home. Friends from Manchester got me a free washing machine which they delivered to the flat. It took four of us to get the heavy machine up a flight of stairs – far more of a struggle than any of the furniture we moved on my arrival in Preston. Installing the machine was a struggle for us too as it only just fitted between the wall and the cooker, and one of my friends ended up hanging over the back of the washing machine to fit its pipes in and power it up. My friends also helped me set up my broadband at the house, after my router was acting up, which means I’m now finally fully online again at home. I made the best of the remains of the night to catch up on laundry and surf my favourite web sites, including of course, Mylot. Diary Sunday 21st August 2016 A day in, catching up on laundry though ironically the weather restricted me for putting anything out to dry. Doh! I had to go out briefly to pay some bills and get some food in, and some fresh milk for guests expected through the coming week. Diary Monday 22nd August 2016 I had a visit to the job club today, which coincided with electricians hired by my landlords starting on the installation of my shower, and repairs to a small hole in the floor. My landlord’s husband visited from Manchester to advise them and everything went smoothly. he had a surprise opportunity for me. It was my landlady’s birthday party in Manchester so he suggested I go back with him, staying at their house in South Manchester and we would both return to the flat in Preston on Tuesday evening ready for Wednesday morning. Thus I had my first return to my city of birth since moving out, which was nice. The pub gathering for my friend and landlady went well too. Arthur Chappell

@Jessicalynnt not yet, though I can get one cheaply - once my book shelves are up I'll have room to put one up - at present most of my books are in boxes taking up a lot of valuable space

@Jessicalynnt yes the cardboard ones were easy to collapse though some harder duty plastic ones prove tougher to dispose of - keeping a few for storage here too
