I need something to feed 10 people in my home for dinner and I'm drawing a blank. I know some of you are good cooks and probably more hospitable than me. I need advice please! ?

Lasagna is a great make-ahead. That with a big salad and some garlic bread and you're all set. Or a spiral ham with mashed potatoes and a salad.

@Rajo14 It is easy to make. It is just layering things: meat sauce, ricotta, shredded cheese, noodles, etc. If anything it is time-consuming which is why it is a great thing to make ahead of time. You can make it the weekend ahead of your dinner party and take your time.

Is lasagna difficult? I'm not a novice cook but have always been intimidated to make lasagna. I probably need to go ahead and try to make it! I admire people who can make it well.

I think with a crowd, simple is better. How about a beef stew (with carrots, potatoes, onions, and stew beef) with a simple salad and baked French bread? Maybe a chocolate pie or a purchased cheese cake if you don't have time to make one. Relax and try to enjoy your company!

What about spaghetti? Spaghetti noodles with spaghetti sauce (pasta sauce) is very inexpensive. If you want to make it more elaborate you can add meatballs and or garlic bread.

@Rajo14 I hate spaghetti but it seems to be one of those things like pizza that almost everyone likes.

@shaggin true....funny, but my husband said "just order pizza" . Feels kind of lame to do that.

Roasted Chicken is always a staple in our home when we have company and spaghetti also. Throw in some garden salad and some sliced fruits in the menu as well.

Spaghetti is always a winner, served with garlic bread, salad, and a dessert.
