The Disappearing Chicken

The other evening I made chicken cutlets for dinner. My cat hadn't been feeling well for a couple of days and I had been trying to get her to eat anything since she felt like she was losing weight. After I ate my fill, I shredded up a small piece of the chicken and called her over. She saw my plate, her eyes got big and she began to eat. She really chowed down on that chicken! I only allowed her to eat little bits since she hadn't been eating much and I didn't want her to get sick. I set aside a piece of chicken (along with leftover chicken flavored rice) for my lunch the next day. I had it on the stove. Sadly, I'd forgotten to cover it before I went to bed. When I got up the next morning, I walked into the kitchen, looked at the stove and my mouth just dropped open! Only a tiny piece of my chicken cutlet was left. The chew marks were unmistakable! That little furry brat of mine had eaten a LOT of chicken overnight! I'm really glad she left a little piece or I would have thought I'd imagined leaving some for my lunch. Now I've learned to properly put all food away. She's feeling better and she loves my cooking! Scary combination! lol photo is mine

I am glad she felt up to eating. If it is hot where you are, the heat does really get to the aniamals. I have noticed My dog Bo not as active as usual.

Yes, the heat really got to both of us this summer. I'm so grateful that it's cooled down quite a bit. We're both enjoying the weather again!

My dogs prefer my cooking to dog food any day, our pets are family after all.

My cat loves to come around the check out what I'm cooking. If I let her, I swear she'd only eat people food!

I am, too! I wish she'd shown me with her own food, however, but she also gave me a clue as to what she does when I'm sleeping! Sneaky cat! lol

I don't think you should leave the chicken out overnight but promptly refrigerate it when you are done eating. You don't want you or the cat to be poisoned with something.

You are absolutely right and normally I do. That night I was so exhausted that I forgot all about the leftovers and went right to bed. A big mistake that I will try never to make again.

oh I know! me, too! When I first saw the little piece that was left, I got so scared. But she's been just fine. She must have chowed down on that chicken all night long!

You can't really blame her can you? At least it showed that she'd fully recovered.

She was making up for the days when she wasn't eating. I think I would prefer chicken too.

@CRK109 I'm glad all that chicken didn't make her sick. She is probably disappointed now that there is no more food waiting for her at night...lol.

One way to get her to eat. Leave it in the open and tell her not to touch.

The poor thing was hungry and the chicken looked so good. I hope you did not get mad at her since it was your fault for leaving the chicken out.

No, I didn't get angry at all! I was so relieved that she was okay. If my chicken is what she needed to help her feel better than who am I to complain? lol

I have a scavenger myself. I have to be careful if I have meat sitting out thawing because he WILL drag it off of the counter and try to take it down the hallway into the bedroom.

roflmao!!!!!! Now that is too funny! I'm sure Ruby would do something like that, too. She wants it all for herself! With her being an only "child", she never learned to share! lol
