How to write a MyLot post that nobody will read

In my quest to understand everything, and become Philosopher-King of the Universe, I have been experimenting with how to write the perfectly terrible MyLot post--the one that nobody will read or comment on. I think the main thing may be timing. If you write a post at about 10:30 PM US West Coast time, or 1:30 AM East Coast time, most sensible Americans have gone to bed, and most sensible Europeans have not yet risen from bed. It would be something like 6:30 AM in London and 7:30 AM in Zurich. It might be a bit later in India, but Indians are probably busy with their morning tea. The second thing would be to write about something that nobody is interested in. My speaker refinishing projects would qualify. So would my guitar sound hole coaster projects. Avoid posts about 1) Bubblews; 2) cute things kids do; 3) anything that includes a cool picture of a place most people haven't seen; 4) anything with sexual undertones. I conducted an experiment in this area the other night an wound up with under 10 comments on a post after three days. My next experiment will be about what kind of posts lead to the most requests to leave the site. I will attach a picture (when I'm good and ready) of the extremely difficult Dynaco speakers I'm almost done with, just to see if that leads readers to flee from this post in radial symmetry.

If you post about quilting, I'd be reading it, precisely because I don't quilt.

@crazyhorseladycx I get carried away sometimes and think 'people will love to hear about this'. Duh - apparently not. But sometimes you can write about washing dishes and the comments come flooding in. There is no accounting for it sometimes. And you just keep quilting away... no problem. :)

I am up at 7:30 (Zurich time) and usually I am working at my computer, but it is true that I spend the morning hours to go through my notifications, because the site is very calm at that time of the day. It is unpredictable what can get many comments and what seems not to be interesting. I have been surprised by the number of comments some of my posts had.

@TheHorse I am so surprised that I had 100 reponses to my latest post, that I wrote just because I had nothing better to say.

It's true. I am never truly sure when a post will be DOA, versus getting lots of comments.

If you need to get rich, write about Britney Spears or Justin Bieber. If you want comments from me, @FourWalls, and maybe five other people, continue to write about interesting and little known music.

You definitely write too much. Too many words. :-( My advice would be to think up an inane one-line post on something hardly anybody knows something about. The title shouldn't be a question because then a member may feel the urge to answer. Re photo: Either no photo or simply a black rectangle. Hope that helps.

I don't pay much attention to when I post my discussions. They are often slow to take off but eventually people seem to get to most of them. Some don't do so well but they're probably the boring ones - which are often not the ones I think are boring. :) Funny that!

I don't know about all that. I still read a post or two about bubblews, but it depends on how it's written or why, I might read about kids and look at scenery I've not seen before. I try to stay away from number four although some hide those well. At least this site isn't hit with those like bubblews was. What are you talking about, coasters for your guitar sound hole? That almost sounds like a riddle of some type. I'm considering trying to get all my household chores done the first two weeks of the month and spending the rest of my time mylotting the last two-three weeks of the month since that seems to be when everyone spends time here. Pony, I thought I'd share an image made for me several years ago. I'd forgotten you love music along with refinishing all them there speakers and related things.

@TheHorse No, I don't play any instruments, but I do love to sing even though my voice may not be the greatest. My husband has a guitar, but he's not played it since he was injured eight years ago. It currently resides in a closet. The image was made before I first saw it and I paid for it in points and then had them include my name on it to use as a signature image much like we use avatars here.

Hey, I recognize that blanket the speakers are sitting on. You had it with a pair of jeans one time. No, I'll comment on posts as much as I'm able, but right now I'm so far behind on my notifications, that I'm getting behind on reading all my followers posts as well, so my apologies and I think those speakers look great. Just a little more to do and it looks like they're about done.

Awww, I like writing about my cute kids and forcing the world to acknowledge how wonderful my progeny are! As an aside, I crunched the numbers a few weeks ago and discovered I get an average of 6 posts per discussion I make. I guess I need to start writing about doing the dishes. Or create another post about Walmart.
