Asking a child whether he/she loves his/her father or his/her mother more

Don't you folks find it outrageous when someone asks your child whether she loves her father or her mother more?
Isn't it totally confusing for the child and frustrating for both parents when strangers do that in front of you?
I wonder why people think this is a good idea.
