Brownies and Apple Pie!

Well, today is my dad's 98th birthday, so two shifts of us went to the nursing home with treats. My sister didn't know I was taking brownies, so she & her hubby brought an apple pie and took him a slice. Daddy couldn't eat a bite of lunch LOL.
The staff had given him a nice balloon and he was in good spirits..

Wow, 98 years old. Happy birthday to your dad. Here in our country, a person who reach the age of 100 years old is given by our government of a lot of incentives like cash amounting to 100,000 pesos (more or less $2,128) and many more.

I saw your post on Facebook and I had to smile. When my mother was in her 90s, all she wanted were Krispy Kreme donuts! I had checked with her doctor and he told me to give her whatever made her happy. Oh my gosh, she loved those things! I'm glad your father got things he enjoys, too. My day was good. Great weather and fireworks tonight! A nice surprise.

@CinnamonGrl We're going to have temps in the mid eighties again today and tomorrow,. We've not had that since mid-August or so. I'm sure it won't last especially after the rain showers heading our way after tomorrow.

Thank you, I am passing on well wishes from all my friends. My dad would have liked the internet if he hadn't already lost so much of his vision when it came to be. He would have loved to talk to people all over the world. He did al ot of traveling for work projects.

@CinnamonGrl lol We went to the Bass Pro Shop which is an hour and a half away from us. Our grandson likes to hunt with a bow and hubs is a bass fisherman so my daughter and I were pleasing them however, we had a love time and a very delicious dinner so it was fun.

Happy birthday to your Dad!
It sounds like he was King for a Day because of it, that's nice.
I know how he feels, I got bored this afternoon, and when I get bored, I cook.
I made a large delicious lasagna and then a peach pie creation for dessert.
Instead of a lattice top on the pie, I made a crumble out of brown sugar, oatmeal, flour and butter-oh wow, was it ever delicious.
The peaches were perfectly ripe and I give them all of the credit, but I'm so full from supper now!
And it is not my birthday--lol

@CinnamonGrl Well........I did not add anything to the peaches except a little sprinkle of cinnamon, and for the topping I used wanna-be brown sugar (sweetner) and not the real thing. So yeah, it was sort of healthy. I don't think that we'll be having the lattice topped fruit pies any more, we both preferred this style. Its dangerous for our waistlines when I get bored around here you know!

The staff there is incredibly nice. So patient. But there are not enough of them. I wish we could afford home nursing round the clock, we'd bring him home.

Happy late birthday to your dad!! My day was ok yesterday. i went to great-aunt's house for a get-together. It was at least a pretty day and I got to sit at her pool. Today has been good so far.

Your dad is so lucky for having lived too long.That is what every person on earth long to live too long. I think your dad took good care of himself in terms of food during his younger years. My warm regards to your dad.
