Happy Monday! It is the 5th of September, and it is the wedding anniversary of my beloved parents who are now reunited in Heaven since 2009. My father left ahead of my mother in 1997; mother followed in 2009. Yesterday, I and my sister went to the cemetery to visit their tombstones. It is so sad to see the grasses gone wild and tall, that we had to ask assistance from 3 kids to help clean our parents' and grandfather's tombstones. Practically, all tombs in the cemetery are covered with this vine that climbs everywhere- the 'cadena de amor'. The kids said the cemetery will be clean again when All Saints' Day and All Souls Day come in November 1 and 2. No celebration was done this day; just prayers for the eternal repose of their souls. Happy anniversary, my Mamang and Papang.

It is sad when cemeteries are not maintained in a tidy manner. We were very impressed with the cemeteries on the continent. I don't think we saw one untidy one.

1997 was their golden anniversary, so plus 19 years, that would be more than the diamond anniversary now. 75 years is not achievable, so diamond anniversary is 10 years after the golden anniversary (60 years)

September 5 will always be a memorable day for us; in fact, i was the one who discovered their wedding anniversary because i chanced upon reading a prayer book of my late mother and saw the date written in the 'date of matrimony'.

i agree, my dear. it goes to show that many remember the departed once a year only--- but for some, like us, we always remember them..

I'm sure they're happily reunited. That girl beside your mother looks very much my elementary and high school classmate.
