Movie or Book?

Which do you prefer? Reading a fantastic book or watching the movie adaptation of the book? Personally I feel the book is better in most cases as it is more descriptive but there are also many examples where the movie is way ahead of the book. So, personally which one do you prefer?

Will depend after I complete both of them. Sometimes movies fare better than books, or remain at par, such as The Da Vinci Code (I didn't like how the plot in the book ended, rather the movie was enjoyable), Gone Girl and 2 States (I felt the book was so-so, but loved the movie's representation). But most of the times, the books are undoubtedly better.

I agree. Also, 'The Shining' and 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' are two rare cases where the movie was better than the book.

@GiridharanJ I've read the latter, but haven't seen the movie. I keep forgetting about it. Thanks for reminding

Yes, time is a big constraint nowadays. But I still feel a good book is worth investing some of our time!

@Giridharan J,I would like to read the book first.Years ago I came to know about a Hindi movie based on a novel 'Godan' by the famous Hindi writer Pemchand.I read the novel first and then watched the movie.

If I can have only one, then I choose the book. If book and film are available, then the book first, the film second. It's hardly possible to enjoy a book properly after watching the film.

Mostly I prefer the book to the movie version. I don't really know why I like the book best though.

Depends actually! For example, Twilight book series was way better than the movies while Harry Potter movies were more preferable than the book series.

Even though it takes me longer to read the books, I still prefer them because I like to imagine how the characters and scenery would be.

Of course that will say the book. I watch a lot of movies and series, but each knows that a book has a lot more emotion. The books give us a chance to fantasize, to build our ideas for characters.
