B1tches Brew?

No, I am not going to talk to you about Miles Davis. I have a cold starting up here, and I just KNOW that all of you have your various cold remedies, and I want you to drop 'em on me. I have one packet of TheraFlu and I have lemon juice and throat lozenges. This cold was different, in that I could feel when it hit yesterday. I got an enormous chill. Slept good, though, woke up sneezy and stuffy and sore throaty plus some of the other seven dwarves. What is your brew? What are your favorite remedies for cold symptoms?

I can feel for you, as I woke with a scratchy throat this morning. I swear by some good old fashioned chicken soup, I find the broth to be so soothing on my throat and it is warming. I hope that you get some good remedy suggestions here. BTW, I also like a cup of peppermint tea.

I believe we do have a carton of chicken broth, because I used it in a crockpot recipe. Plus I think we have some chicken noodle soup, and I like that. Thank you! Ooh you know what. .I might also have peppermint tea and I wouldn't have thought of that. I haven't been doing tea lately.

@CinnamonGrl Maybe add some extra garlic to the chicken broth. Garlic is supposed to help.

To be honest, I don't think much actually works once a cold is in full progress, though I sometimes think you can nip one in the bud if you take action as soon as you notice the first symptoms. However, lemon juice and manuka honey is what I take. It has to be manuka honey though, which is the expensive stuff. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, I believe, so can ease a sore throat. But as most colds are viruses, I guess it's all about resting and just letting it take it's time.

I don't ever really try to stop them, just treat the symptoms. If my chest hurt or something extreme, I'd seek the doc, but I hate to go to the doctor. It's always a huge long wait and sometimes you catch something worse, lol. OMG would you believe I have got manuka honey. I bought it a couple years ago for another reason. People are suggesting stuff I have, oh joy

@CinnamonGrl I hope it helps. I found it does ease a sore throat, even for just a little while. Nothing much seems to help me with the blocked nose part of a cold though.

Poor you. I hope you get well soon and it doesn't turn into something more serious. I swear by gargling with warm salt water, Jewish chicken soup, Vicks on the soles of your feet while wearing socks, lots of Vitamin C, honey, zinc, hot tea, and rest.

Some of these things are soothing on the throat. Someone mentioned peppermint tea, and I think I have some of that, too. It probably is good on the throat.

I swear by Cold,Eze, I pop one in my mouth several times a day with a cold and soon I am better. Unfortunately,I only had about 6 while on the cruise so I caught a cold and didn't have enough for it to work for me. I won't be without them again...
