road trip - 9/11 - Cody, WY

Drove from Sheridan, WY to Cody, WY on 9/11. Took I90 to near Dayton, WY and got on route 14. Gas was 2.80/gallon near I90, the gas station had 2 non-working pumps. Drove about 10 miles to Dayton and gas was 2.28/gallon. Parts of route 14 were 'open range' which means that stock could be grazing on or near the road. We did not see any animals on the road, but some off to the side. Route 14 from Greybull to Cody was the most boring highways that I have been on, just scrub brush for miles and miles. Spoting a cow became a welcome break from the monotony. Coming from the east on I90 we saw billboards before the town of Buffalo saying that route 16 was the safest way to go to Cody. I wonder if they were refering to the 'open grazing'?

Wyoming is the state with the least population. There are probably more cows there than people.
