Good morning everyone, hope you all have a great Wed. I worked half day yesterday as I had a Cardiology appointment in the city. My appointment was at 3pm and didn't leave until 530. We met with my doctor got more information on my surgery, she increased my medicine then i went for an ultrasound. After the ultrasound went back to the room met with the new dr that came from university of michigan and got even more information regarding this surgery i may be having. He told us he is confident that because i'm very healthy right now, my kidney and lung function is good and my heart is stable that i would pull through with them doing the surgery. They want to replace my aortic valve that is leaking. There is no chance I would need an LVAD as he thinks i'll recover without needing one. So it was good getting that information makes it easier for me to lean towards doing the surgery. I have until Friday to make the decision. After my appointment we drove home got home at 630 then grilled some steaks and burgers for dinner. Then i watched americas got talent and read my book til i went to sleep. So that is my update soon as I know when surgery will be I'll let you all know. Have a great day!

This is great news, at least now you know what to expect and it seems it's not as bad as it could have been.

@ladyduck yes it sure lifted my spirits a little hearing from both sides. I decided to move on with the surgery. So now the whole process will begin next week and then they will let me know surgery date.

@Blondie2222 The sooner the better, so you do not think all the time about this.

@juliaacv yeah but my case is complicated as i have other issues besides just my heart like my kidney function and lung function but right now both are good so that's why they want to do the surgery now. After hearing from both doctors i decided to move on with the surgery.

Is that a valve in your heart? It sounds like the doctors say you will do fine, but heart surgery still sounds scary to me.

@marsha32 yes it is on one of the chambers. It was a risky surgery because i have kidney and lung issues also but they are both good and stable right now so that's why they want to do the surgery right away before it gets worse. So I am emailing my doctor today and telling them i am moving forward with the surgery and then we will begin the process.

That is good to hear. When doctors are confident, the whole team will be confident too. I am no doubt that you will rest for just a few days before life goes back to normal.

@scheng1 yeah trust me I don't want to be in the hospital longer than I have too. So the sooner they can discharge me the better.

@Blondie2222 If you can walk, just take two steps as soon as you can. Once you can walk, you have a very high chance of going home that day or the next day.

Glad that you are healthy and can have that surgery. I had it myself 3 years ago. But the cardiologist told me at my last visit that there is a little leak. I am not pleased about this new. What kind of valve will you be choosing? I took the mechanical one. Good luck,.

@marlina yeah glad you made it out ok but sucks there is leakage. Mine has been leaking for a very long time and that's what caused my left ventricle to grow large and making the heart work more. Having this surgery should help solve that problem. I believe they are doing a mechanical valve but not 100% sure.

@Blondie2222 If you go for the mechanical valve you will have to be on blood thinner for life.
