Nostalgia and Homesickness

I often catch myself reminiscing about my life when I was home. I have been studying away from home for 3 years now but I still haven't completely got used to staying at a dorm. I sometimes miss my town immensely, how I knew each and every way around it when I am lost in the gazillion long roads of the big city. I miss the food and comfort of home. I absolutely love the city I currently study in, I have an amazing group of friends and everything I wanted. But a strange sort of nostalgia grips me whenever I think about home. I miss my town now, when I had spent years hating it. Have you ever been so strangely homesick or nostalgic?

It is only natural to miss your hometown. It is where you grew up and where all your childhood memories were made. It is where your family is. No matter where you travel in the world or where life takes you, your home town will always be home. You will get homesick from time to time even if you are completely happy in the city you are living now.

Yes I am getting that experience now. I had thought I'd never miss my town. How things change!

I understand you because I a studying away from home three years until now and I often feel some weird kind of nostalgia but more nostalgic for some times than nostalgic for home honestly.

I understand this emotion too well! I don't really miss home, but the comfort and all the emotions attached to it!

I think it is normal to feel that way. I had also experience this when I had a mission in Central Asia.
