We Are So Proud of Her

Last Saturday and Sunday , our daughter together with her boyfriend took the first batch of exams for the Medical Board.
The day before that , she said she’s at the house of her boyfriends’ parents .
After the first batch of exams was done , she phoned me that her boyfriend’s mother woke up at 3:30 a.m. to prepare their breakfast and their packed lunches and snacks during those days . Then , the father drove them to the school where they will be taking the exams .
She requested me to thank them . Thus, I profusely thanked the mother (and told her to also thank her husband ) in behalf of my whole family . I was touched by what she texted back “No problem at all . Dianne (our daughter) is a very good child” .
All that I texted back was “thank you for saying that and a smiley “ .
We are all really so proud of my daughter because she is indeed a very good child . Simple , smart , God fearing , respectful and loving .
I feel proud of us also , because we were able to raise her well .
I know , you feel the same way with your children .

I raised my three boys on my own ..Like you feeling proud of your lovely daughter, I also feel very proud of my three boys .. They are so down to earth, responsible and productive members of the society .. As parents that's something to be really proud of right? .. I wish your daughter and her boyfriend all the best with their exams ..

@epiffanie Oh that was so difficult indeed because your youngest was just 5 years old. But maybe because having the father in the house at that time was already very dangerous for all of you .

@SIMPLYD Yes I divorced when my youngest was only 5 years old .. I was not the easiest decision by I chose it to give my boys a chance to have a peaceful home .. So yes I brought them up on my own ...

So , you also get to take care of a niece . That's so nice to hear , since you have no children but get to experience how to take care of a child.
Why was it that it was you who took care of her for more than 10 years ? How old was she then ?

@SIMPLYD When she was 15 their parents (my brother and my sister-in-law) divorced. My brother is a doctor and she is almost never at home, my sister-in-law is schizophrenic, she was not allowed by the Judge to take care of her daughter. I decided to take care of her, until she finished her studies, found a job and became independent.

Feels so good to hear parents being proud and happy with kids. Most parents I have seen always want their kids to do more and be the best, never happy with what their kids do or are already good at. This creates such great pressure on the kids to perform that they get all stressed at really young age. Your daughter is lucky to have such beautiful parents like you. You have done an incredibly great job of making her what she is today and what she will be tomorrow in life.
And all the very best to your daughter and her boyfriend for their medical exams. May God bless them with loads of happiness and success in future.

Thank you .
Actually at first when she told us after graduating for BS Biology that she will pursue medicine , we told her we cannot afford it . But she said she will look for a scholarship , and she did . She was a scholar of one of the most prestigious hospital here in the Philippines until she graduated last May as top 3 of their batch .
She was so persevering and determined in pursuing it . How proud we are of her ,. Scholar since high school .

@SIMPLYD I think I have some similarity with your daughter. I would have been up to high school only and end up tending our store just like my older sisters but my class adviser and some classmates (including the class valedictorian) came to our store to convince my mother to also convince my father to send me to college because it would be such a waste if I did not go to college. They convinced my mother and, to do my part, I took the college entrance scholarship exam which I topped and got a full academic scholarship for one and a half year and half scholarship till I graduated.

Their exams actually ended yesterday . It was for two consecutive weekends .
So far , she said that though some are difficult as all of them have experienced , she said she will pass. That i am praying and looking forward to .
Yes, that was so sweet indeed of the mother of my daughter's boyfriend .

Of course the credit should be shared by parents too for inculcating the right habits.
It is not easy nowadays with children getting tempted by easy and undisciplined life.
So nice to hear of how appreciative her boyfriend's parents are.
To get up at 3.30 am to prepare food - wow - that is really something, a hard act to follow! siva

You have raised her to be the wonderful young lady that she is and you can be proud of that. It is hard being a parent and sometimes we question ourselves but when out children grow into strong, independent adults then we know that we have done well. Both my children are doing great in life and I am so proud of them. Being a parent is very rewarding. Congrats to your daughter.
