How much allowance you give to your kids?

When as an young person growing up.
Did you get an allowance doing any chores?
Or do you just give them an allowance.
For me my children had to do some chores and depending on the age of the child.The older one,washing dishes,Some took the trash out.
Very little chores The reason for this to teach your kids
The allowance is to teach my kids money management skills
I am not sure that that teach this at school.
Money management should be learned at home.
I had three kids.I opened up a saving account for them.
I contribute a few dollars to get this going.
When the allowance is given.Each child should bank their money.
Whatever they want.So much out of each allowance should be deposit.
At that time the interest rate were much higher than today.
they started out well.They feel important going to the bank.
It was up to them how much they want to deposit.
They loved it.They felt important.This is what I wanted to do with them.
Some responsible for them.

I have no children, when I was young my father gave me a weekly allowance, if I helped my mom around the house. At those time in Italy children could not have a Bank account, you had to reach maturity (21 years in those times) to be able to sign the paper and open an account.

On my two days off each week if my kids wanted to earn some money I would give them a list of things they could do and how much each job would pay. They loved earning money so I had no problems getting the jobs done.

@amadeo They all bought their first car with the money that they saved. I could not afford cars for six children. The youngest three even had part time jobs in high school and bought their own cell phones and paid for it themselves. I was not paying for a cell phone.

No kids. When I was young, I had the same allowance with my siblings. We help with the chores. It increased as we grew older. If we get awards, we were given additional monetary incentives which are directly deposited to our bank accounts.

Oh lol... we worked for our allowance that's for sure. My parents owned a small business and on the weekends, we were expected to help out. I can't remember how much we were given, but I think that it covered all of my little wishes! And yes, our kids had to work for their allowance too!

I got an allowance when I was a kid. Since I've never had kids myself, I've saved myself a fortune in allowance.
