Welfare day and my second interview at a call centre. The early welfare hearing went well as my advisor was pleased that I have got some interviews this week. I have exactly two weeks to my next hearing with her. After a library visit it was time for the interview which involved a long tour of the big call centre facility, a computer based literacy, maths and IT knowledge test, and a strange role playing test. I had to talk a boss through the process of finding the ingredients in a kitchen, for which I hd a map,, and teaching him how to make a pizza. This was apparently to see how well I can instruct potential customers and clients on the phone about their computers and mobile phones. I was told I will hear whether I got the job in the next 24 hours. I wasn’t impressed that they seemed to have no record of my preliminary interview with them the day before. My interviewer from that has not given them my CV or they have mislaid it. Arthur Chappell

I wish you all the best. Sounds like quite the extensive interview. You think they would have of records from the interview the day before. They must not be very organized.

Hmm... that was weird - having you guide someone through a kitchen and making pizza, to see how well you'll do helping clients about computers and mobile phones...? I suppose they're making do since this is your 2nd interview and probably still have to go through training with regards to the database they use when actually dealing with customers (I'm assuming there is a database they use). But it's still a bit weird. Shouldn't they stick to some computer or phone related topic instead of the kitchen and pizza?

@arthurchappell Perhaps your interviewer was feeling hungry and was thinking of pizza. Lol!

@moirai I think I annoyed him by glibly instructing him how to order one from the nearest take-away delivery

@Jessicalynnt fortunately they rejected me - strange to actually like not getting the job but this would have been grim

That's so weird. Must be some mix-up in the paperwork. Fingers crossed for you to get a job.

@arthurchappell Oh dear. How embarrassing. I'm glad there's only one of you.

I'm not sure I would want to work for a company who were prone to losing fairly important paperwork!
