My poor boyfriend has a really bad toothache, and we can't exactly afford to go to the dentist right now, so I started looking up some home remedies for toothaches. Interestingly enough, I found some information that said black pepper and common table salt are great for this problem. Crush the salt and pepper and make a paste with it using a bit of water, then rub the paste on and around the tooth that is bothering you. Leave it on for a few minutes, then rinse. It is supposed to ease the pain and prevent any bacteria from further harming the tooth. Another method to aid in toothaches is gargling warm salt water for a few minutes throughout the day/night. I am going to make him try these whether he likes it or not! LoL. I will let you know whether or not it works for him. Do you know of any other home remedies for bad toothaches? (Of course, we will get him to a dentist for professional help as soon as we can.) Photo free for public use from Pixabay.com

I think clove oil is supposed to be a traditional home remedy, but really I hope he can be seen by the dentist soon as there's a limit to what you can do without proper treatment. Toothache is the worst thing to have to put up with.

I only know one - the gargling of warm salt water. I learned one today - the black pepper and salt method. I hope other members will be able to share other remedies.

Those are new toothache remedies for me. I used to put crashed ginger root and put it on the aching tooth. It helped.

I use Ambosol or Orajel when I have a toothache, they cost under $10. Ibuprofen will help too.
