Let’s talk about FIBER foods. A recent 9-year National Cancer Institute study, showed that "women who ate more than 26 grams of fiber per day were 22 % less likely to die from any cause, than the women in the study who ate less than 11% of fiber per day." Their explanation as to WHY this is so, was based on the conclusion that “high-fiber foods help flush out disease-causing “bad” cholesterol, carcinogens, bile acid and hormones” according to the study author Yikyung Park, Sc.D. What are some high fiber foods that you can choose instead of other snacks. The following were mentioned. Almonds Whole-grain pasta instead of white pasta Raspberries Oats Shelled edamame Whole-wheat crackers Raisin Bran I just added these items to my grocery list for tomorrow.

I've never heard of shelled edamame, otherwise the rest are very good and I do eat them on occasion.
