The First time you left your child

With a family member or sitter. How old was your child? How old was the sitter? How long did you leave them? The first time I let my daughter go away was for one night, and it was with my step mom and my dad. She was almost 3 weeks old...I never thought I would let anyone take her so soon, but then...OMG I needed a break...lol

My daughter was 2 when i had to leave her with my mom for a few nights so i could go into the hospital and have my second child. It was pretty hard to leave her and i think she was pretty upset with me because when my mom brought her to the hospital to see me she wouldn't come to me and hug me or anything. It made me want to cry. but eventually everything got alright.

Thank you for your response! I know how you feel! It breaks my heart when I send my daughter with a sitter, because she just cries for me and I hate it!

My oldest was a couple weeks old when I left her with my in-laws (mother in law, sister in law and niece) for most of the day to go car shopping. After that it wasn't until she was almost 6 months old and my dad babysat for me for part of the night so I could go out for my birthday. The first time she spent a night away from me was when I had my son--she was 15 months old. The first time I was away from my son was when he was a month old. He spent the weekend with my sister in law because I needed a break (he had colic). My middle daughter was 3 months old when I was away from her the first time--she also spent the weekend with my sister in law. My youngest daughter is 7 1/2 months old and has never been away from me, except when I go grocery shopping but she is always with my husband then. She has never spent time with anyone but us.

my son was a few months old. i went to a business things with a friend and left him with my sister until my husband came home. he was alseep when i left. i worried about him the whole time. when i came home late that night, my husband was cooking pork chops and he said ..."he just wouldn't stop crying. he just cried himself to sleep" with this look of stress on his face...i felt bad and gave him a hug...i sat down and my little one woke up and looked at me with this face of, "you left me...how could you leave me" i picked him up and nursed him back to sleep. it was so cute and funny and the same time.

I did not let anyone watch my oldest overnight until she was 20 months & I went into labor. My dad watched her. I was away from her for 4 days. I do not remember with my middle child. With the baby, she was about 2 weeks old. It was for 2 hours while I went to the dr. My mother-in-law watched her.

My husband took our twins out to see his parents when they were 6 months old and they decided to spend the night. I think I cried the whole night. I was pumping every hour and a half or so and all I could do was miss my babies. I was really depressed which didn't help. I didn't see it as a needed break even though I really needed the break. My husband thought he was doing a good thing for me. But I couldn't enjoy it, not even for a minute.

my son was probably about 5 months old the first time i left him with someone. it was my mother in law and it was only for aout 3 or 4 hours. i missed him so much! it is very rare that i let anyone babysit. my mother in law and my bestfriend are the only two people who have. he doesn't like to be left with his grammy( my mother in law). i don't know why. he just seems to be scared of her or something so i quit letting her babysit. he's 2 1/2 now and loves my best friend so on occasion we let her keep him while we get groceries or something. i hate leaving him though. no one will ever take as good care of him as i do.

Hey there! I had to leave my daughter over night with someone when she was about 3 months old, but it was at the hospital. I was there, but was not allowed in the room that night. My son? He was....wow, i can't remember. I think he was closer to 8 months. Hey, was noticing the picture of you and your child. It says you uploaded it 3 months ago, do you have a more current picture?

the first time i left my baby he was about 4months and it was with my sister until my husband came home from work. i went to a meeting/seminar with a friend about a home business thing. i was perfectly fine with my sister because i lived with her and of course she was older then me. it was so funny when i came home. my husband was cooking dinner and my son was asleep on the floor. my husband just looked at me and said, "he wouldn't stop crying. he finally went to sleep.." apparently, as soon as my husband came home my sister left him the baby and went to her room and didn't help out...when i sat down, my son woke up and had this look of..."mommy!! where'd you go...you left me!!" then he nursed and went back to sleep. heart breaking from both my boys.

We're about to leave our 3 month old daughter with my mother-in-law tomorrow. It's an occasion, so my wife and I are going out for dinner and a movie. It's kind of wierd as she's always been away from us both at the same time befoe.

Until very recently I have only left my children with family. When we lived in Florida I had my mom, mother in law and sister to sit for me. Now that we live in Pennsylvania I have my sister in law, step mother in law, and my 17 year old sister in law, who was our regular sitter. We found out that everytime she babysat she basically ignored the children and sat at the computer and she never picked up a thing. Everytime I came home I would wonder if going out was worth the hassle of cleaning the entire house when I got back. One time when we came home there were ketchup stains all over my daughter and the carpet, another time it was kool aid (that stuff is like dye). Now we have a girl who works for my husband watch the kids and she is great with them, They are excited whenever we say she is babysitting and she plays games and does crafts the entire time.
