When We First Got Here...

Three years ago when we got this place it had been abandoned for 7 years!! The people who "gave" it to the SIL apparently trashed the house (that the MIL lives in) and the trailer house that we live in. When we came down here with the SIL, I found a golf club and used it to make a path to the house. The front part I mainly knocked down the dried weeds with a golf club! It ended up the SIL gave her half to the MIL and she left. The MIL is still here, even though she "hates" being here. Every since she's been here, she's been wanting to give it up, but she's still here!! Besides all the dried weeds that we had to take care of, we heard from people in the village that people were using this as a dumping ground!! Even now, there are still things coming out of the ground!! A lot of elbow grease and some sweat and three years later we're getting it fixed up. This is another reason why I want to get a riding lawn mower, because since I've been mowing the weeds are getting under control and grass is actually coming up. Have to buy some more grass seed though. ~Peace~ photo is my property

With the fires I have experienced here locally and have seen in California on the news I think that that dried grass could really be a fire hazard. I hope you get weeds mowed down and some seed put in next year. That would be nice for you. Sometimes depression grows from things that need to be done. It looks like too much and can be over powering.

I'd have liked to see a photo of the house as it is now

You are hard workers and it is all paying off. It may take a lot of worth but it's very rewarding to make a house into a home.
