It's a lovely evening here in the North East of Scotland. Time for a run on the bike. To be honest my wife and I have only missed one day on the bike all year. We have covered 10,000 miles on my old Kawasaki since January. We will go to the shop first then hit the road. On the way home we will stop at MacDonalds for a coffee and the free wi- fi. Mid 50,s freedom is great. No kids at home No debt Time to enjoy what we do and enjoy each others company. Quality time. I had bikes when I was younger but never ever thought I would get to 55 and still be a biker. I think it keeps us young I really do. So what sort of things do you do to keep you young.? How do you spend quality time with your partner.? If the kids have all left home did you have any problems adjusting to life without them at home? Away for our ride now.

Oh no. What is wrong? Traffic. Here there are lots of bike paths I stick to those but they are also trying to merge bikes to high traffic areas which I think is unsafe.

Hiya. Yeah. We try. Been a spate of bikers here killed in the last couple of weeks and it's made enjoying it a bit harder.

I consider myself an old soul although if I lose my facial hair, I'm sure I'll look younger than my age. Having said that... So what sort of things do you do to keep you young? I do my best to live a healthy lifestyle. How do you spend quality time with your partner? i don't have one at the moment. If the kids have all left home did you have any problems adjusting to life without them at home? Can't relate to this question. Anyway, I'm glad that things are working out for you and your partner. Good for you!

@saulgoodman grew a beard every summer when I was younger and then I shaved it off once summer is officially over. My current beard is growing strong at two years and getting to three next February. About the healthier lifestyle, I really need to cut down on my sugar intake which is close to impossible as I have a sweet tooth. Anyway, I'll get there soon enough. 19 years... cheers to both of you! Looking forward to talking to you around the site!

Hello Allen0 I grew a beard one time and my wife said I looked like Santa clause I shaved it off and I think I knocked ten years off with one shave. Been beard free ever since. Wanted to grow another for the last big bike rally we went to but she said no so I didn't. I recently started to embark on a healthier lifestyle and I do feel and see the benefits already. Wish I had done it sooner. Next is to stop smoking. Might be easier said than done so cutting back gradually is the plan. 19 years we have been together now and glad to report that very much looking forward to the next 19 and I believe the healthier lifestyle will keep us on the right track. I look forward to talking to you some more on other posts.

Hello Marlina. I had a spell after a crash where I never looked near a motorbike again. Then when I was 50 I went and got another one. The minute I fired it up and took off I knew I would be back on them big time. I enjoy every journey. What ever the weather. What ever the time of day is. Better still is the fact my wife is the best pillion passenger ever. Middle aged bikers. Great fun. Quality time. Fresh air. Great way to explore.

Would you believe, I've never been on a motor bike. In my teens I had a boyfriend who wanted to take me to a party on his bike but my mother wouldn't allow it. (I don't think I've had any offers since!) As to kids leaving home, it hasn't happened for us yet. My two are 18 and 22 and still here. I must admit, I think I will find it very difficult to adjust when they finally do move on. The thought of us two rattling around the house seems a bit odd. We tend to do our different things a lot of the time so the silence would be deafening when he's in one room and I'm in the other. That said, we do still enjoy things like going on walks, runs, travelling, meals out, etc. so we'll probably be okay.

Oh I would believe you have never been on a motorbike. Most of the ladies in our circle of friends have never been on a motorbike. They think Yvonne my wife is a daredevil biker chick. You did as your mother said. Mum's know best I think. 18 and 22 and still at home. It's hard for kids these days to find places when they are going. Maybe they just know what side their bread is buttered on. It is difficult to adjust. I think anyone who says it's not might be confusing different and difficult. We don't do much apart. We both love the bike. We both enjoy gardening. Her friends are my friends and vice versa. We enjoy each others company I guess. We even follow the same football team!! Work together also. Motorbikes lol. It's great that you do lots of stuff together. Does your hubby like motorbikes? Why don't you both learn? Find a training school and do your CBT. Great day out whilst learning a new skill. Just sayin!!

Hello there. We found life apres teen quite difficult to adjust to for about a year. Then we both really got into bikes and it's been bikes ever since. What are your thoughts 're Do you share your husband's thoughts? Do you are yourself ever being the proverbial biker chick ( tbats how my wife refers to herself).? Bikes are liberating and exciting at the same time and I think rising a big motorbikmotorbike has made me a better more vigilant car driver also.

Yep. Back home now Bella and it was an ace ride. It's getting colder now though and I think it's about time to wear the winter gloves again as my thin leather gloves let in the cold a bit tonight. Do you ride?
