Lasting Friendships

Some friendships last a lifetime.. I have a few friends who have stood by me all these years, through the highs and lows of life. There are some I only see in my high days, but are completely absent when I am low and troubled.. Thankfully I don't expect anything from my friends. I am never really disappointed.
A few of my friends who have been with me for a long, long time have been my childhood friends. I never expected those friendship to last this long .. but they have withstood the test of time. They have not remained just my friends, our families have become closer, we try to be there for each other as much as we can. One such friend is a person I met on the very first day of my schooling.
We weren't great friends then or even until we finished high school. But we met again in college and spent years together at the university, we became great friends. Many thought that we would eventually marry each other .. but I found the love of my life and married him.. Years later he married his sweetheart..
Its wonderful to have a friend like this for life.. He is someone I can call anytime of the day and say anything to him knowing I won't be judged..

I did have two good friends. One I had known since I was fifteen and the other about twenty five years. The latter disappointed me a few years back and we are no longer friends. THe other is my BFF. We are like sisters. I known her for nearly fifty years now.

yer both blessed :) no ma'am, i've none from my younger years 'n when i fell ill, all but one disappeared. we've adopted him (kinda) - the young'uns call him uncle 'n we get together whene'er he's the time when he comes to town.
we can also talk 'bout all thingies any time 'f the day 'r night. 'course he does gimme a hard time now that i can't go 'n look 't/haul bulls/cows fer him these days, lol.

I do, my oldest friend has been in my life for 61 years, she was 4 and I was 5 when we met at school. We have been best friends ever since.

I have one or two but not that many as I was quite shy when I was younger. I keep in touch with two gals from my first job, but rarely seen anyone from when I was still younger and in school.
I realized recently that I'd not seen you about the site in a while. Is everything okay? I know life likes to get in the way or many times we just need to get more involved in our life and less active here. But, I hope you are well at least.

Proverbs 18:24 say, "There is a friend that sticks closer than a brother," it looks like you found one in him.
I have many friends that remain my friends till now but many of my other friends I had to keep distance because I discovered they are not worth keeping anyway.

Hi... I found your views on friendship very interesting. As for a person like me who took very long to understand the true value of friends these words inspire me to cherish all the lovely friends I have at present.
And for all those childhood school n college friends with whom I have lost all contacts I really miss u all n hope to get back in touch with u all
