Does it pay to speak about God?

Most certainly and definitely! We speak about the things and people we love. What the heart is full off, overflows via the mouth. If we love God and Jesus, certainly we will speak with them and about them. God is so happy to find people who does this, that he actually made a book in heaven where all these discussions are recorded. Imagine getting there one day, and listening to the words you spoke about Him. Do you speak good and positive words about God, or do you belittle and criticize him and his words? Mal 3:16 Then the people who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD listened and heard what they said. In his presence, there was written down in a book a record of those who feared the LORD and respected him. Just think: The LORD LISTENS when we speak! Will you blush with shame one day when your words are read?

Wow, I didn't remember reading that in Malachi. I know there's a passage in the New Testament that says we'll be accountable for every careless word we've spoken.

Yes, we will be kept accountable for every idle word. But in the post here, God is fondly speaking about those people who love him so much that they speak about him. They are not ashamed of him and his word. And therefore he wants that recorded. Lovely pastime we will have in heaven, listening to our own words!
