The latest poetry challenge from @Jessicalynnt is based on the words "no, negative, never, not, and hardly." Here goes. Poem – State Of Mind What do you mean I'm being negative and pessimistic? I'm absolutely positive we're doomed You know I never do rose tinted spectacled new age mystic I always fear the worst, and that a nuclear mushroomed Cloud does not have a silver lining While the light at the end of the tunnel Says 'EXIT' as the bright, glowing shining Angelic host sucks my soul out through a funnel With no hope of parole or reincarnation The glass is more than half empty and spills Over to bring ruination and eternal damnation As some God plays God with the universe and kills Even new born babies who can hardly be defined as deserving To join the eternally dammed and downright miserable like me. I find your cheery optimism un-nervingly disconcerting After all you might Be Right But I hope not Or I'll be hearing told you so an awful lot I'll be happier if oblivion is my impending state for eternity. These are the worst of times, not the best I don't want your Heaven, just permanent silent rest. Arthur Chappell
