This just came into my head and I have no idea why. Could be because I fancy Cod and Chips tonight for dinner. You know, a good old fashioned Fish Supper. Cod deep fried in batter with proper Chips. Not these bloody stick insect Fries things but proper Chips. Who still has Fish for Dinner on a Friday?

Pork is good. We eat quite a lot of pork. My wife loves bacon even though her relgion says she must not eat pork. But nothing compared to fish and Chips. Remember the bald dame who sung Nothing Compared To You? The song was originally called nothing compares to fish and chips.

Why does the rain make a difference to what's for dinner?

@enlightenedpsych2 Eating fish on a Friday reminds me too much of my Catholic upbringing.

Tonight we had an Indian takeaway. I don't have fish and chips that often. In fact, I think the only time is when we go to the seaside, when it seems somehow obligatory. I agree, you can't beat a proper chip. Someone once said if you drop a real chip on the floor, you really notice it. I think that's a good test of the difference in a chip and a 'stick insect fry.'

@saulgoodman My gran always cooked her chips in lard and she lived into her 90s. I agree, we're never that far from the seaside, although some of the roads are so slow that it can take an age. We used to go to Bridlington, Scarborough, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Filey for day trips, but it took a long time. These days we go to Llandudno instead, which is much more straightfoward. We get fish and chips from a place called 'Fish Tram Chips' near the tramway and they are excellent.

Indian food is awesome isnt it? Chicken or Lamb bhuna for me The great thing about our quaint little United Kingdom is that where ever we are we are never that far away from the seaside. Fish and Chips are everywhere. It's one thing I like about South of the border. You make better chips than we make. Those stick insect things do my head in. They don't stay hot and have no taste but kids love them. Proper chips at home are still best though. Cooked in less or beef dripping. What say you

Aye well the way our fishing quotas are going its becoming a bit of a luxury. £9 for a fish supper take away in a good Fish and Chip shop. Way over the top. Scotland lol. Not the place it once was. I wouldn't visit the place now if I was not Scottish.

I think in days of old fish on a Friday was quite commonplace. I believe it is a Catholic tradition but I might be wrong about that.

I quite like Shrimps although I have not any for quite a long time. Pork is ok if you get the right marinade on it prior to cooking and leaving it overnight
