I guess people like to die and lose their homes...

I find it interesting that many do not want to take this storm seriously. I mean... Even if it slows down, as long as it remains near the coastline, the flooding from the storm surge alone can wipe out a town, homes, and kill people. The traffic jams, and running out of gas alone, killed dozens in Houston, TX when Ike hit, because they were stranded in the heat, and ran out of water. Residents waited until the last minute to prepare. Sadly... America never learns. We just allow ourselves to be in harms way, then hurt later when we have lost everything, and/or friends and loved ones. Even those who prepare still suffer loss, but sometimes less than others, and sometimes not... It just depends. Anyway... Regardless. I guess to each his/her own. I feel like calling the weather channel and tell them that Florida does not care, so don't bother posting any updates about the storm. To them... It is no big deal, and they will just take their chances.

Many people do care but like you said some are not taking it serious I guess because the weather forecasters are making it seem like it's not a big deal. I think everyone should always prepare for any hurricanes because we never know how it might end.

Well... With this storm they are making it a big deal. I mean...the Bahamas are going to get slammed today, and sadly many lives will probably be lost.

I think that this storm is pretty strong and it would be better to take it more seriously. People never learn.

I agree. Even if we miss a direct hit, we are too close to the ocean to not get a major storm surge.

It seems very strange that people just stick their heads in the sand and pretend it isn't happening.

I live in South Carolina, and we are discussing now what we are going to do to get prepared.

It is really pitiable to know about that. If this is the situation with a developed country what would have been the position with countries like India.?
