If you have a Hyundai that was recalled, then the recall failed-

Not just Hyundai has responded to issues by recalling vehicles, but Honda, Toyota and Volkswagen have all had issues recently and were forced to recall cars. What would you do if you had a recall on your car, like we did with our Hyundai, and then the recall failed? When contacting the phone number given for Customer Affairs, we were told there is Roadside Towing available. It should be towed to a dealer to be fixed. Not so fast: We asked tons of questions, wanting to be assured that the repair was covered. Some, who were not really able to back up their statements, said if the recall failed, they saw no reason it should not be repaired again. As it stands, the Hyundai dealer in North Carolina-who of course is in possession of our car, says it is not covered. We have had several conversations with Hyundai's representatives. Tomorrow we will be going a step higher. Fortunately, there is information online that lets people know what to do if this happens. The car in this photo is not our Hyundai, of course! The gentleman who owns this car gave me permission to take the photo used here.

I've only had to deal with a recall thing once and it was totally covered to have it fixed. If the company recalls it they don't always pay for what needs to be fixed?? That doesn't seem right.

The recall was fixed and then failed. We will see what happens next. Shared on Facebook and some friends are sharing too so the world (hopefully) will eventually know what is happening. This can't only be happening to us.

Those old Ford were much better than the modern cars. My niece also had a serious issue with Hyundai.

@PatZAnthony My niece had the issue resolved, this happened about 8 months ago. Then she sold the Hyundai and bought a Volkswagen and she has not been more lucky.

I just wish these companies would get it right the firs time. I find all the recalls annoying.Isn't it easier, cheaper, simplier to just get it right the first time??

Yes, the first time OR the second time. You statement made me realize this will be the 3rd fix. How is that okay?

@PatZAnthony It has become acceptable to not get it right the first time. We have grown used to the recalls and acceptable it as normal. I wish I knew how to hold them accountable. When you sell a product as finished, new perfect, that is what it needs to be. Seems like there should be a punishment other than, I will fix it, I will fix it again.

They should be covering those vehicles that is not something we'd be paying extended warranties for. That probably means that they're not giving you a loaner car either? When I've heard of recalls recently it's been more in a fob causing the car to stall out when driving down highways. My daughter's car had to be fixed for that problem. I should ask if she's ever had it done yet since she doesn't live at home any longer.

Yes, the car can just stall in the middle of traffic. Isn't this lovely @MarshaMusselman We are waiting to hear about our complaint now. Friends are sharing our post online b/c we know this has to be happening to others and it should be covered.

@PatZAnthony That's not what's going on with your car, or is it, Pat?

I assumed that recalls would be repaired at no charge!

The recall was fixed, but then failed. They claim they don't have to fix again. We don't agree-and will argue the point to see what happens.

@PatZAnthony maybe the recalls need more fixing to a problem that arose?

I have a letter from Subaru about our recall for the airbags and it is a paid repair.

Once the recall is complete, wouldn't you think if something goes wrong again with the airbags, this would be covered? Anything that is a safety issue is for 8 years according to details we found online!

My sister had her car recalled because of a dangerous air bags. I went with her to the dealer and she drove a new car to use while her's was being fixed. It was free...sounds like you are in the middle of a scam.

This proves that people behind Hyundai, or any car for that matter, are like Insurance companies. When they convince you to buy a plan, you are the apple of their eyes. Wait till you make a claim. It will take you forever to catch even just their ears!

My RAV4 has been recalled two or three times now and so far the work has worked well and cost me nothing. Good luck with your recall.

Nothin like the 'modern' technology in cars today @PatZAnthony . You can drive off a showroom floor and a week later, it's in the shop. I have a 16-year-old Saturn and have had very minimal repairs.

We have a car that is 25 years old (Pontiac) and it is great for local driving. Not so sure we would head to California in it, but good for daily runs/work etc.

As we can't drive the car off the lot, we might have it towed home!

The dealer should shoulder all the costs; why would they sell a defective car in the first place?
