Tall timber time! My two favorite Dale Watson songs. When I go out on a road trip, the first two nights I request this song and the #1 song (which you'll see tomorrow, on Dale's birthday). And hey, they both involve drinking! Imagine a country song about drinking!
#2: I Hate to Drink Alone
I think I'm drinking myself crazy
I'll take you with me when I go
Yeah, that's a line.
One of the funny things about seeing Dale do this live is his explanation for the drawn-out "hate" when he sings the title. "I'm southern, and in the south, hate is an eight-syllable word!"
(He does have a point, y'all.)
And the song itself is fi-e-i-i-fi-e-i-i-fine on its own (without the southern commentary). It's about a man who misses an ex-lover and knows drinking by himself is dangerous and lonely, so "I keep your memory on my mind and near to me."
I love this song, and Dale always knows he has to do it one night when I'm on a road trip.

A country song about drinking. What'll they think of next?

Women and booze. That's a country staple.
