Day 32 Proverbs 10:23 Proverbs 10:23 It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom. 24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted. 25 As the whirlwind passes, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation. It’s hard to remember people who caused a lot of trouble once they pass from this life. We talk a lot about them before they die, but as soon as the dirt covers their casket, they are soon forgotten. However, the same is not true for those who did a lot of good during their lifetime and had God as their strength. Solomon recognized that as he also noticed that the memory of wicked people lasts as long as their life did. Once they are gone, they are like the wind which passes. It is not missed. However, a good person who fears God is long remembered, not only for their faith, but for their actions. As Christians, we are to be a force for good in the earth. We are to do good to one another, not for the notoriety, but because we want to in order to honor God and our Lord Jesus Christ. It’s part of the great commandment – Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself. You aren’t loving God or honoring him if you don’t love your neighbor. Deuteronomy 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. (KJV) Matthew 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. What kind of person are you? Do you cause mischief? Or do you love your neighbor and God? Let’s pray: Father, help me to honor you in everything I do and not be a mischief maker.
