Finally Home and Safe

After evacuating because of the big hurricane that hit us a few days ago, we are so happy to come home to a house that is still standing and without any damage. It looks like the whole community was lucky but we did not ride around and check everything out yet. We just noticed a huge tree was down and just missed a house up the street. We have so many down trees by us but luckily they were not huge and did not land on the house. Tomorrow we will get outside and start cleaning up the yard. We were lucky to be at a friends on the west coast of Florida as they did not get the hurricane. It was very scary leaving everything behind with no idea if we would see them again. After looking around the house the morning that we evacuated, I realized I could not bring all the things I wanted to and most things could be replaced. I took big pictures of my children and grandchildren with me. To me that was very important. A lot of the town still has no electricity. I am so happy to be home and safe.

Thank you so much. Besides lots of trees branches down all over the yard, everything else was okay.

We were lucky as I had a girlfriend to stay with. The people next door went to a hotel for 4 days. That gets very expensive.

I'm glad you survived intact. I've seen pictures and heard a lot of stories of the devastation.

We really lucked out. I Am use to having a big sturdy house in the northeast that can with stand all kinds of storms, hurricanes, blizzards and anything else. I had visions of our house being broken down like a cardboard box.

@ramapo17 It's a good thing it held up better than a cardboard box. Yes, the houses up here in the north are quite sturdy.

I'm so happy for you, and all my friends in Florida. I surely thought our condo would fall into the ocean, but all was well for use, thank goodness! Many were not so lucky.

We took a ride around the community to see some of the damage and we were truly lucky.

I am very glad to know that you are home nice and safe from the trip. It is good that you had some relaxation from the trip. Now I am back to school to work and I am afraid that I can only have a trip when winter holiday comes. Take care.

It must be very scary to have to evacuate and not know what you will find when you get back home. Thank goodness you didn't have any damage and your house is safe & sound. I probably would have taken pictures with me too if I had to evacuate.
