Turning It In

I spoke to my father in law about whether or not I should turn in my laptop to the geek squad for the problems I have with it and he said I should. I haven't planned for when I was going to turn it in, but I should probably do it some time this week. I know they will have my laptop for probably the rest of my semester so i will have to depend on using the college's computers and borrowing my husband's laptop for when I have to do assignments. I need to save all my important files on my USB flash drive too so I'll be doing that this weekend, most likely tomorrow. I am hoping they just replace my laptop because I don't want to get it back and have some of the same problems still happening or having new problems arise. Have you ever had Geek Squad replace something for you instead of fixing it? If so can you tell me what I might expect? Do you depend on Geek Squad for your tech protection? Do you use another company?

Depending on the issue it may qualify for replacement but the GS agents in your local store will be the ones to ask. If they want to send it out for servicing, ask them if replacement would be an option because you need it back before the end of the semester. They may be able to work something out so you don't have to deal with it being shipped out.

I may very well ask them about that. I know the one agent said that they would replace it if they felt that it would not be economical to fix the problem

@IvySaysHi Yeah, that's kind of how it goes. They have a bit of discretion when it comes to making that call, so it's worth asking about.

Hello there. Can I ask exactly what sort of problems you have been having with it. Someone once called me a geek when I fixed a laptop.

lol geek isn't necessarily a bad thing to be called. My laptop's dvd port opens at random like 100 times a day without the eject button being touched, the touch pad spazzes out randomly and won't react properly to my fingers moving on it, and my laptop took a fall the other week while the charger was plugged in which resulted in a piece of the panel surrounding the charger port broke off. So the charger port moves if you touch it. It still charges but im afraid of it being completely damaged. The panel around the charger port would open and I'd have to push it together and it still does that but now since that fall it happens even more.

Geek Squad helps but not all the time. Best Buy is the only place around here with GS.

I haven't heard of the Geek Squad but I hope they can give you some satisfaction.
