Since I am a "senior citizen," I get the extra high dose vaccine against the flu. I had intended to get it a little sooner, but kept putting it off. Today I remembered, so went to my local prescription drugstore and got my insurance covered shot. It did not hurt at all. I neglected getting the shot for years until about ten years ago, I finally did get the flu and was the sickest and weakest I have ever felt. I even lost my appetite and that never happens. Anne was at her doc's office the other day and they offered her one, so we are both covered. I hope that my daughter gets one, but she is hard to convince. So, how about you? Are you getting one this year?

I usually get them at the VA. Guess I'd better get out there.

@JamesHxstatic I have a lot of other issues and do not want to take a chance with the flu shot. Some people (including my sister) would have been better not to have that shot.

Good for you @marlina. I didn't either until I got a case and that convinced me.

I haven't got a flu shot before and I have no plans to do so. Since the flu will change all the time and the flu can't really resist it. And the flu is not so horrible problem for me. This is why I don't pay attention to it.

@JamesHxstatic In fact the flu is not the necessary vaccine, and many people don't think it is a serious problem. But we do get some necessary vaccine, especially babies and children.

The shots change each year as well, predicted on what is known about the current flu viruses out there. Do many people in China get the vaccine?

@youless I figured that your country would, of course, have all the good vaccines for growing children.

True. Another comment (above) from China made me wonder how widespread the vaccine effort is in your country.

Yes it is. Many have health insurance that will pay for their shots.

@JamesHxstatic thanks James Higgins for the information. In India, this year there had been cases of Dengue. There are no vaccinations for that.

No, I am not getting any flu shots and I have never got that before. I actually didn't know its existence until a few years ago, my ex-boss told me his daughters were having the flu shots every year. I am trying not to let my children take any medicine, though they did get some vaccinations, I try to minimize them. Since cold and flu are not so critical illness here, so I just let them heal themselves.

No , i don't have that . But my parents had that too , since they are "seniors" like you and need that to be assured that if ever the flu got them they are at least protected not to get through it hard .

I stopped getting the flu shots because I always get the flu every time I get the vaccine .. For the last two years without the shots, I din't get the flu..

That is very strange. Science here tells us that the shot can't make you sick, but also, the shots can't protect against all strains of the flu.

@JamesHxstatic Yes indeed it surprised me that I din't get the flu without the shots .. but my husband continued with his yearly vaccine .. I have a feeling that if we keep up with our intake of enough vitamins and minerals by eating those important vitamins and minerals, we are protected from viruses..

@JamesHxstatic It comes and it goes. If it is hard consult a doctor and take medicine only if necessary.
