While the Christmas Day is yet to come, but so many people now in the city begging for alms. Many are children coming near to you and will sing a Christmas song, sometimes you can't even hear their voices. Some are mothers carrying their months old child and just open their hands to ask for money without even singing. Some are Badjao from Mindanao where I think part of the syndicate. Its okay to give money but sometimes its awful when you give one of them, many of them will follow.

I understand what you are feeling. They say the best way for them to avoid begging is for people to stop giving, however, I find this strategy contrary to being compassionate so I am having mixed feelings on what should be done.

I agree this is one of the hardest thing to do, of not giving them, especially to us Filipino who have a soft heart.

I think it is better to give some food than money. I am sure it would be the same thing in my city.

Sometimes I do this strategy, instead of giving money I just buy them food in the store. And they love it.

My concern is if a syndicate or a bad group runs them to ask for a few penny. I hope those kids will have a great life someday, I hope they will not refuse the opportunity that God will give them. It i so hard to take off the pride of life out of pain and insecurity in exchange of having a great life, because many people want to live in anger and pain of their past.

I suspected that too, that there is a syndicate manning these helpless people. Though some of these children, I can say, are doing it on their own because its the time they can have a bigger amount of money.

Makes me want to hide this Christmas season, I don't even have the money for my niece and nephews, how much more if it's those street children.

yes, i have seen them too. worst thing is, as small as 7 years old, they run to catch a ride on the jeep, sing a song then get off, even while the jeepney is driving fast. i mean accidents could just happened. i hope the government can do something about them. they are quite rude, you know.

that is really irritating, you give and many will follow, and then they don't want to leave unless you give them.
