Something i thought i'd never do

Australia

I was walking to work from the train station like any other day, when i saw someone swimming in the Yarra River which is located in the city in Melbourne, Australia. It seemed to be a young teenager, I honestly couldn't believe i saw him because i seen rowers but no one actually swimming in the Yarra River. Anyway i didn't think much of it as the young teenager seemed to know what he was doing. I didn't actually know what the weather forecast was and for his sake i hope it wasn't to be windy or for a storm to come. As soon as i was thinking this, there was a massive storm and came out of nowhere. It was windy and there were massive waves in the Yarra River. I could see the young teenager struggling to get back to shore and i knew i had to do something. I didn't bother calling any authorities as i knew there was no time for them to save him. I took off the relevant clothing and jumped in. The waves were enormous, but i had to save this teenage boy. I swam to where he was and pulled him over my shoulder. I could see he was fainting and i had to swim faster to try and beat the waves and the wind. I swam and managed to get us to safety. I pulled him from the water and he thanked me. I put on my relevant clothing and i had to get to work as i was running late. There was no people around and most people were indoors of the storm. Everything went back to normal as though nothing happened. Have you seen anything like this happen? What was your reaction?

Wow you are a hero!! What an amazing thing to do for that your teenager who would have lost his life if it weren't for you! I have never been in that situation before but I would like to think that I would react the way you did.

@IlijaMarkovski that is for sure. I am not a strong swimmer so I don't know how well I would do in the situation you were in.

Have you considered that maybe God allowed you to be in that place at that time so you could rescue that boy?

@hereandthere Yes luckily i was, otherwise it definitely would've been a tragic end. I don't think the boy would be careful, unless he grows up in a hurry. Have you seen any situation like this before?

@IlijaMarkovski no, and i don't swim, so if it was me passing by, i would probably shout help, help, someone's drowing, and bang on the doors of the houses nearby.
