1957 – The movie “Jailhouse Rock” starring Elvis Presley premiered at Loews State Theater in Memphis, Tennessee. It was the same theater where Elvis had worked as an usher five years earlier. I would say that was a big step forward for him. 1960 – The Drifters rise to the top of the charts with “Save the Last Dance For Me”. 1962 – The Beatles appear for the first time on TV in Britain on People and Places singing “Love Me Do”. 1964 – Manfred Mann a British rock group has a number one hit with “Do Wah Diddy Diddy”. 1970 – The Jackson 5 come out with their fourth straight U.S. number one single “I’ll Be There” with lead vocals by Michael and Jermaine Jackson. http://www.classicbands.com/day/october%2017.html

You kindly welcome @JohnRoberts I remember when I lived in NYC and I listened to an oldies station that kept playing the most asked for songs over and over. One particular song got stuck in my head one time and even when I turned the radio off and went to bed I could still hear that song

@RasmaSandra Have you ever noticed it isn't the songs you like getting stuck in your head but the annoying ones?

@JohnRoberts that is just it. The ones that are as annoying as buzzing flies are the ones that you get stuck on
