Suddendeath poetry Challenge: Reverse of seasons

Centralia, Missouri
October 22, 2016 6:25am CST
Welcome to this weekend’s Suddendeath poetry challenge, Reverse of seasons! Anyways, rules are as follows, write a poem in any style using the five words that I give you. Write it in one sitting or in under an hour (only to quash your inner editor, rules are loose there). Add it here, OR link in a comment so we can enjoy each other’s' poems. The words can be in any plurality or tense. Today’s words are: fall, turn, change, breath, balance. My entry is as below Leaves falling, season turning, earth going to sleep end of a thing, promise of others, deep in my heart to keep. Change in the air, hint of frost on the ground, cool on my mind and breath I have found, the beginnings of solace in the promises there. answer to words offered from heart raw and bare. Wind caught me up, and swirled me long far from the life I had built, far from the song a framework that I had written for myself over time. While life's changes can hurt, even in spoken rhyme and Deep truths the mind may shy from, but never the heart, no the heart always knows the true parts. *I think there is more, but it's not ready to be verbalized yet. Enjoy!

That was really good and quite heartfelt, I know. Here is my effort for today. A fall morning today, great sunrise, welcome change from days of rain. My breath cloud rises in the cold air, as the seasons turn keeping the earth in balance.

I am not a great poet, but the important is to participate. The leaves are falling in the humid air. The sun turned off with a dim glare. Change in the air announces the rain. I breath deeply, looking at the sky full of cranes. Kids run and sing on a boring cadence, I move slowly on the wet grass not to lose my balance.

Change The turning toward ice and wool layered on my back a balance beam that I've not prepared for, my limbs no longer able or willing to navigate a fall. Perhaps this is the reason for All Hallow's Eve this perchance to breathe one final bit of warmth the fire blazing toward the stars embraced, embracing harvest and home I shout halloo! to the Fall, the autumn the celestial spin.

Good job Jessa. I haven't done these challenges in a long while. Maybe I can make up some time and go through them real soon. Here's my short take on it for today. Indian Summer came and went this week with a final warm weather blast, Time to put away our flip flops and shorts, since it faded away and didn't last, Autumn is officially here, when the leaves fall from the branches of trees, A changing of the seasons real quickly, when there's a chill in the breeze. In two weeks, we'll be turning back the clock to gain one hour of sleep, Don't hold your breath yet, while the balance of time is what we'll keep, Halloween night is around the corner and followed by Thanksgiving soon, Hello lightweight jacket, jeans sneakers, to walk and look for the harvest moon.
