Home and Awake

It went well. I'm about to make something to eat. I did have two large chocolate chip cookies and three hot cups of tea before I left the hospital. My son showed up earlier than I expected. So I arrived at the hospital a lot earlier than I needed to be there. So while I was early, the doctor was late, but only 15 minutes. They had trouble with the IV which was no surprise to me. I told them I had small veins. Yeah, they had to find them to begin with, and when they found one and though they had it, they started the medicine and found it went into the tissue instead of the vein, so they had to find another vein and someone else who could get it from anesthesiology. That part was the hardest for me since I hate needles. I do remember a small portion of the colonoscopy, but not much and it wasn't painful. I didn't wake up during it, but I do remember a short bit about it. So now I'm going to make my breakfast at 5:30 PM. I will say I stepped on the scale a short time ago and expected no more than 5 pounds, but dropped another 13 pounds. I expect I'll gain some of that back when I start eating, but hopefully I can keep most of that off. So right now I'm down a total of 35 pounds. I can live with that. I have 12 pounds to go to be at my first goal in my weight loss. So how are you this fine day? Thanks for reading and I will be back after I eat. I have steak thawed and I'm adding eggs and hash browns to that and a large glass of milk. We'll see if I can eat all that after my four day fast.

Glad your procedure went well once they were able to get the IV going. Drinking all that nasty stuff is the hardest part from what I hear. My son had a colonoscopy recently and although the prep was difficult he said once they put him under anesthesia it was the best sleep he's had since his kids were born

It was a nice sleep and I took another two hour nap when I got home. So now the medication change. I'm going to need to look up what he's planning on giving me.

I'm so happy it's over for you. How often do you have to have them? Enjoy your food. You certainly need it, and congrats on the weight loss!

@just4him There are alternates. That seemed like torture. I wound up on the three year plan, but my new guy told me it wasn't necessary. The polyps found were all slow growing ones. He told me to come back in 10 years and threw me out of his office. I will return in a few more years for my sanity. Just be safe.

@DianneN I know one of the alternate methods the doctor talked about the last time I saw him was to take pills. You would take a lot of them over several hours, but it has to be better than drinking that nasty stuff. I'm glad you're not going back for ten years. I didn't have any polyps. So that's good.

Thanks. I hope I won't need it again. If so, the doctor and I are going to have a serious talk about alternative methods to that drink. The nurse asked if I was on the five year plan. I told her 'NO'. This is my second in two years. Last year when I was diagnosed with UC and this year for changing meds for the fourth time. I hope the next one works.

@crazyhorseladycx I've got a feeling he doesn't think so either. But I'm going to ask him. I want to get this under control the easy way, not the hard way.

The nurse called yesterday. She told me I have active colitis on the left side of the colon. No surprise. My appointment for the medication change is two weeks but she put me on a cancellation notice so I could get in sooner which would be good.

It sounds as if you are planning to rebuild your system. I am sorry about the problem with the IV. That is the pits.

I have very small veins and need a baby IV needle. So it wasn't a surprise to me that it didn't work. I always feel like a pin cushion. One reason why I hate needles so much.

I was okay with what they gave me at the hospital so I could let everyone know it went well and I was home. I did eat though right afterwards.

Thanks. I'll get a better idea of the total weight loss on Monday at the Y. I have a feeling my scale was wrong by a lot. But I do know I lost something.

That was yesterday late as I wasn't hungry until late in the afternoon. I'm guessing it was because I had fasted for three and a half days that I wasn't hungry. I had cod fillets and rice along with a slice of cake to celebrate my daughter's birthday. It was all I had yesterday. However, I've already had something for breakfast this morning. So my system is getting back to normal.

I like to make small manageable goals, I am working on the next 10 lbs. I have been a little sick lately so none has come off recently since I cut back on my exercise. Hope to be back at it next week. Wonderful job on your weight loss, I am so proud of you.
