What do you know about American paper money? These facts end up on “Jeopardy” and other trivia-type game shows and also in trivia games all the time. I just saw yesterday on “Millionaire,” a question about what building is featured on the reverse side of most U.S. paper money. The contestants GUESSED correctly and ended up winning $250,000. Most American paper money features a U.S. President. George Washington is on the $1 bill. Abraham Lincoln is on the $5 bill. The $10 bill does NOT feature a U. S. President. I think that is strange. Alexander Hamilton, the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury is featured on the $10 bill. The latest news is that a woman may be featured on future $10 bills. Andrew Jackson is on the $20 bill. Ulysses Grant is on the $50 bill. The $100 bill does NOT feature a U.S. President either. Benjamin Franklin is on the $100 bill. William McKinley is on the $500 bill. I don’t think I have ever seen a $500 bill in my life. I wonder if a person could get one at a bank, or if they are only used in certain situations? Grover Cleveland is on the $1000 bill. I’m fairly sure I have not seen one of these either. Woodrow Wilson is on the $100,000 bill. I’m quite sure I’ve never seen one of these bills. This is the highest denomination of paper money printed in the U.S. I think it is only used in international trading situations. If you would like more information about paper money, here’s a link that really goes into detail about U.S. paper currency.

Do the people featured never change? We have the Queen on them all, but another person is on there too, but that often changes. What I don't like about American money is that the bills are all the same size and colour. Ours aren't.

@IreneVincent I don't know, but I should imagine that she will carry on while she is still capable. It can't be easy at her age though - all that visiting and being on her feet such a lot. I admire her tremendously and there's never been even a whiff of scandal concerning her.

Yes, I've seen your money. It makes more sense to have different colors, I agree. But, Americans are quite used to our money and don't get it confused. They are supposed to make some changes, as I mentioned. There may be a woman on the new $10 bill. Your Queen has been Queen for many years, so keeping her on the money makes sense also. Our presidents change quite often, but only a few have been featured on our money. Do you think your money will change if she is no longer the Queen at some point in time. Perhaps Charles will be on your money, or William? Interesting thought.

Yes, having different colors of money does make sense, but Americans are used to our money and we don't get confused with all the paper money being the same color. Your Queen has been Queen for a long time, so it makes sense that she is on all the money. Our presidents change quite often and only a few have been featured on our money. As I mentioned, they are talking about putting a woman on the new $10 bill. Do you think that your money will change, if the Queen is not longer Queen at some point in time. Do you think Charles or William will be on your money?

No problem. I always think it's good to know as much as we can about our money. And I'm a Trivia Nut.

I've never seen larger than a $100 bill. Who will be on the new £10?

Oh my god...I never knew about the currency there. We have only one icon, Mahatma Gandhi in our every note. But you have so many icons and national hero's in US!
