Anthony Fenech reports the news on Thursday the Detroit Tigers have picked the $6 million dollar option of their closer Francisco "K Rod" Rodriguez. Rodriguez will remain the closer of the Tigers in the 2017 Major League Baseball season. It is a possibility that if the Tigers are not in contention to make a playoff run before the Major League Baseball Trade Deadline on July 31, 2016, Rodriguez would be traded to a team that is in playoff contention since Rotoworld.com reports the Tigers will likely be in a rebuilding mode. Rodriguez, 34, pitching record in the 2016 Major League Baseball was three wins and four losses with 44 saves in 49 chances with an earned run average of 3.24.

6 million is pretty cheap for a closer of his stature.

That is true even though he is near the end of the line at age 34.
