Sunken Boat

On one of my ambles along the Grand Union Canal I spotted a boat that had come to a soggy end. This sorry vessel, too large to be a speed boat and too small to be a cabin cruiser, lies near a fishing platform on the Slough Arm of the canal and has been there for a week or so. Judging by the yellow barrier, I guess the Canal Trust know about it and are awaiting a crane to shift it. Looking at the damage, I would say it has been vandalised and then deliberately sunk. To my untrained eye it is beyond salvaging.

Can you imagine the owners' distress? This is so sad. It would be awful to have your pride and joy going to the bottom like this.

It has a reg' number, so I suspect they have been told. Not a good surprise.

If it has been vandalised it's a shame. I also suspect that it is beyond salvaging.

@Ronrybs I hope it is insured, in our days it's better to be safe than sorry.

It's certainly waterlogged. I guess they can get a new one if it is insured

Your quite right, in the photo it does look like a toy, but it really is about 15-18 feet long.

@Ronrybs it's really concerning how people don't respect anything anymore.

Someone was obviously bored. Wonder if it's stolen?

There is a boat hire place a few miles away, could well have come from there
