In Fall Leaves Fall And Hairs Fall

At the moment I'm constantly picking off hairs from my shoulders or chest. How is it with you? Do you also notice losing more hairs during the fall/autumn season than usual?
Every day we lose hairs. They fall out and new ones grow. It's an ever repeating cycle. How much hair loss is normal? 60 to 100 hairs a day are no reason to be concerned. It's only a small percentage considering an amount of 70.000 to 100.000 hairs a human being has. The actual falling out is caused by washing, rubbing dry, combing or the pushing out of a new hair.
Is it an illusion or do human beings really lose more hairs in fall? It's not the case for everybody, but some people certainly do. Scientists say that the shorter days = less sunshine are responsible. Yet, one should only talk about intensified change, not real loss of hair. If the roots of the hairs haven't been damaged, new ones will grow in spring.
Have you noticed this seasonal phenomenon? I have. I notice it every year. The good thing is that I don't have to be afraid of looking like a plucked chicken when winter comes. I'm blessed with healthy, thick hair considering my advanced age and the fact that I've had it dyed for many years.
I wonder if our antipodean members have made the same observations in their autumn. I wonder if moving from hemisphere to hemisophere every half year would mean extremely thick hair or no hair at all?
The mind boggles.

Yep, I deal with this every year. It was even worse when I had to deal with warfarin and that was during the winter too haha My hair still stays extremely thick so it does not bother me haha

@MALUSE warfarin is a blood thinner, normally when people have blood clots (which I did) take blood thinners.

In my experience, I really do lost hair and had it trimmed for me to handle a shorter hair better. Change of season also has a big effect on my hair but also with my scalp as it goes dry which makes me put some hair oil for a day and washed it next day

Oops Sorry that first sentence made me laugh. You have hairs on your chest ? I know my hair grows at an alarming rate in the winter months rather than the summer plus it goes darker in the winter than it is in the summer months.

I have noticed that my hair grows more in the summer especially on my legs :(( Autumn here can be quite dry so maybe that's the reason for extra hair loss.

I never knew this or thought about this, as I am staying in a tropical country, so it might make no difference for us. I just know that I lose more hairs after I gave birth. I find my hair on the floor every corner at home. I don't remember how long this will last.

I have had friends and family freak out at how much hair they lose. It is normal to lose quite a few each day. But, the less proccessng and messing with it the less it will fall out.

I have very thick, naturally dark, long hair and it is really noticeable when it falls out. Not because my hair looks less but because it gets everywhere! Floor, food, sink and bath plugholes, tables, chairs ... everywhere. But this is an all year round thing for me. I've not noticed it happening more at different times, but maybe it does. You'd think that we'd be more likely to shed less hair as winter approaches.

I think your last wonderings don't bear thinking about! :) I've never noticed that I lose more hair in one season than in another but our seasons are not as 'opposite' to each other as some.
