The first kick ass girl empowerment song has to be “These Boots Were Made for Walkin’” which was a huge hit in 1966 for Nancy Sinatra, Frank’s daughter. Producer-writer Lee Hazelwood enjoyed a successful career that began with Duane Eddy and frequently worked with the Sinatra’s: he wrote “This Town” for Frank, produced the #1 hit Frank and Nancy duet “Somethin’ Stupid” and wrote and sang duet with Nancy on the hit “Summer Wine.” From the album “Boots,” “These Boots Were Made for Walkin’” was arranged by renown guitarist Billy Strange (he famously did a cover of the James Bond theme) with noted session band The Wrecking Crew. Such a great song! I think I was in grammar school when it first came out. I remember asking my grandmother for a pair of white "go go" boots for Christmas and I was so happy when she got them for me.

I like that song form Nancy Sinatra. Great lyrics and great music. Too bad the bumper music today on television sports shows is plain garbage.
