Are you optimistic?

There are a lot of fatalistic people lately, always letting "fate" take its course instead of doing their part and making things work to their advantage. I do think being optimistic requires a good deal of resilience. Not everyone can pull it off during crucial times. Are you optimistic? Can you still think positively even when the odds are against you?

Why optimistic or pessimistic? Why either - or? Why not realistic?

Realistic view is stagnation ..acceptance of the situation...people can then decide whether they accept the situation and still hope for the best, or accept the situation and take a prudent outlook. At times gamble pays off so many people prefer to be optimistic.

@vandana7 I'm sure these are wise thoughts but I'm too tired to discuss them. I think I'll turn to the shallow thriller now I started reading yesterday.

yes i can. I am optimistic...but i am reasonable at the same time. Balance is what we need here. This is a line out if a song "Fairytales can come true. You gotta make it happen. It all depends on you."

Well I guess so. I think the important thing is to not let the negativity get in the way of living a good life.

It pretty much depends upon the situation...and how much the loss is likely to be. If I am likely to lose heavily...no..I weigh the risk and then use my optimism card. Usually, I am realistic + optimistic...meaning optimistic but which has been reasonably tempered down.

That's a good point. I'm taking that into consideration. Perhaps many people are a little of both.
