Ginger And The Bread

I do enjoy gingerbread. Didn't care for it much as a child. It is of the Zingiberaceae family in which cardamon, turmeric and galangal also belong. It has many medicinal uses. It helps with the digestive system. It will improve the immune system and helps with nausea and the common cold. Reduces muscle pain, joint inflammation, stops the growth of bacteria, can help in Alzheimer's with reversing the plaque deposition in the brain, can help in reducing the chances of developing certain cancers, can help reduce the cholesterol in the blood, and can reduce pain of menstruation. But, it is also good in bread. I was trying to find something to keep my grandson busy over the two weeks he will be home from school. I come across a list of gingerbread options. There were trailer parks, mansions, trains, villages, all manner of ideas. I came across some that were ninja gingerbread men. You could cut out the men in different stances. Pretty cute. So I got a kit for him and his mom to bake one day. Should be interesting.

I love gingerbread. I don't have it often enough. We had a church dinner and someone make a desert with ginger bread mixed with cream or cool whip or something. It was so good and I ate way too much of it.

i always loved ginger snaps. makin' such gluten free though turned out to be quite the disaster. then i came 'cross a scrumptious recipe fer chocolate gingerbread, 'tis a loaf that jest makes my mouth water. i use ginger 'n turmeric daily fer both'f their medicinal properties. i hope yer grandson enjoys makin' those cookies! who knows, he might e'en come'p with some designs himself :)

When I was younger, my folks used to make ginger bread, from scratch, and as gingerbread should be it wasn't too sweet. It was in loaf form. I remember not being the biggest fan but right about now I'm wishing I could make some. I know I'd love it now.

I bet you would. From scratch is so much better than store bought. We will have fun with this kit I am sure.
