Bad Delivery Services

I live in the UK and often get things delivered to my home but I've noticed, particularly in the period leading up to Christmas when delivery services are perhaps a little bit busier, that the delivery people don't even knock even when I'm home. They simply put a card through my door saying 'We knocked but nobody was home' without even knocking and telling me they have left my parcel hidden in my garden or even inside my rubbish bins. I haven't had anything stolen yet but I wouldn't be surprised if this happened. This is a paid for delivery service and I think it's a terrible practice. I have to say that Hermes seem to be the worst culprit. Anyone else have similar experiences?

Wow...that's new level of inefficiency... here we get messages, notifications and all of it when a package is being delivered. I actually am very satisfied with the service of delivery people...like 98% of the time. I would have expected it to be more efficient in the UK...

Hopefully it will improve soon! Having notifications sounds like a good idea.

I've had them knock and I simply didn't hear the knock. Did you see them come to the door? If you know absolutely for sure, a quick call to the company will put an end to this practice of not knocking.
