What Is Your Favorite Decade of Music?

My Favorite Decade of Music You’ve probably read this in several of my posts, so you won’t be surprised to hear it again. My favorite decade of music is the 50s. In the 60’s I barely had time to think about music at all. I was having babies and moving from one place to another, following my husband’s assignments in the U.S. Air Force. I wasn’t keeping up with the music trends at that time. My daughter was born in Colorado in 1961. My oldest son was born in Okinawa in 1962 and my twin boys were born in Maine in 1964. We finally settled in Virginia in 1965 and we bought a house. Then, my husband got out of the Air Force and we stayed in Virginia for quite a while. The 60’s was a very busy decade for me, but I did recently find out from a recent TV program, what the TOP Five songs were for that decade and I thought I would share this information with you. 1. “I Want To Hold Your Hand” by the Beatles (1964) 2. “It’s Now or Never” Elvis Presley (1960) 3. “Hey Jude” The Beatles (1968) 4. “The Ballad of the Green Berets.” Sgt. Barry Sadler (1966) 5. “Love is Blue.” Paul Mauriat (I don’t remember the song OR him at all.) I need to find this song on You Tube and see if I remember it. Do you?

I'd have to say my favorite time for pop music was the late '60s and early '70s, even though I was a bit young to be a part of the "scene." By the late '70s, there was disco, and I stopped listening, for the most part.

I actually LIKED disco music. By then my children were older and my husband and I updated our "jitterbug" steps to disco music and we loved to go to disco clubs and dance. Some persons thought we were dance instructors. It was a fun era for me.

@LeaPea2417 No, I don't think I have. What is one of their best songs? I'll have to see if I can find any of their music on You Tube. I don't usually care for hard rock music. It's just a little too loud for my taste.

By far, my favourite decade for music is the 90's, even though I was just a little kid growing up back then! I do remember growing up, in the late 1990's, hearing some of that music.. As well as my parents playing some earlier 90's stuff, like grunge and what not too, but either way.. That will always be my favourite. I also really like 2000's!

@IreneVincent Aha! My favourite song of all time.. Well that is very hard to choose. The first song that comes to mind is "Naveed" by Our Lady Peace, a Canadian band that is quite famous, but not sure if you have heard of them or not.. They are a lot more famous in Canada as they are in the US or around the world. The song came out in 1994 or '95. If I could pick an album, however, I would pick "The Lonesome Crowded West" by Modest Mouse.. Which came out in 1997... Such a great album, I love each song on there so much, and Modest Mouse, that band is one of my favourites ever, have seen them like 4 times so far... Hoping to see them live many more times in the future :) Anyways, what is your favourite song of all time?? :)

@mawdest I will have to see if I can find any of the music you mentioned. "Naveed" sounds familiar but I'll have to listen to the song. I'll see if I can locate it on You Tube or somewhere else. And "The Lonesome Crowded West" is NOT familiar to me that I know of. My youngest son may be familiar with it. My favorite song of all time is "Unchained Melody" by the Righteous Brothers. I sang this song on stage with a live band at my High School Reunion a few years ago. If you want to hear me sing a different song, which is probably my #2 favorite song, here's a link. I've been trying to get more views.

I love the 1950s. The rock and roll was fresh, the country was extraordinary, and even the "pop" music was superb with acts like Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, the Platters, and Teresa Brewer. PS: here's "Love Is Blue." I remember it...didn't care for it, though.
i love instrumentals and this is one of my favourites from the 60's,and this version by "Paul Mauriat" was released in 1967/68 and made number 12 here in the...

Toni Braxton sings one of my favorite songs. Right now I'm trying to think of the name of it. I'll have to get back to you on that. Got it. "Unbreak My Heart." I have sung this song at karaoke, but it's not an easy song to sing. She does a fabulous job on it though.
