Transported Back to the 1940s ... For an Evening

This evening, my husband and I attended a concert of Swing Cats ... a 1940's type Big Band. They had a dozen horn players, including trombones, trumpets and saxophones. There was also a piano player, drummer and bass player. They were accompanied by young singers who performed a series of songs originally sang by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters. Finally, they had two couples who were swing dancers ... twirling, flipping and tossing the girls over the guy's shoulders. They sang a number of well-known Christmas songs ... White Christmas, I Wish You a Merry Christmas, Here Comes Santa Claus and many more. All in all, it was a fun way to spend the evening. It's going to be a busy week, but this was a fun way to kick it off!

Interestingly, I was exposed to Big Band music back when I was in college, and I absolutely loved it! I think most people would enjoy the genre if they would just give it a chance and listen to it!

@moffittjc - You are right. After all, nearly everyone still enjoys listening to old Bing Crosby and Dean Martin songs ... and most of them are accompanied by Big Band music.

@LadyDuck - Yes, I remember the music of the 50s and 60s. The music we heard included some Christmas classics which people still sing today ... such as "White Christmas."
